This newest gold standard in manual espresso features Flair’s first industry standard 58mm portafilter as well as a more robust frame and lever for ease of extractions at higher pressures. The 58 also includes specific customer requested upgrades to the preheating and workflow process by providing our Preheat Temperature Controller and our new valve plunger, which includes a puck screen. Just set your brew head to one of three heat settings to ensure proper preheat and thermal control in every shot. Add your brew water without the need to remove the stem!

The Flair 58 is the gold standard in manual espresso from Flair. Unlock the true potential of your extraction.

What new in the 2023 edition:

  • Detachable Preheat Cable: In 2023, all Flair 58s will feature a detachable preheat cable, meaning customers can brew using the preheat function, or unplug to take their Flair off grid.
  • Mirror Upgrade Enabled: The Flair 58 now features a stainless steel disc that has been embedded into the post of the lever assembly. This disc allows any Flair 58 buyer to upgrade to the magnetic, articulating shot mirror and add it to their setup with ease.
  • Angled Elbow Connector: As part of the upgraded brew cylinder connector, Flair has added an angled attachment for the preheat controller, meaning that customers will more easily be able to route the wiring of their Flair 58 down the back post to maintain a high level of aesthetic beauty. In addition, the preheat system features new software that alerts when the connection to electrical has been severed.
  • Enhanced Valve Plunger with Single Slot: Enhanced plunger with a single slot instead of dual slot); providing an improved valve function when filling the brew cylinder and a reduced potential for the stem to raise from the plunger when stem tabs fall into alignment with the smaller single slot.

Features:

  • Fully Manual: Manual process and integrated pressure gauge for precise brew variable control. Immediate feedback while brewing allows for real-time adjustments.
  • Temperature Preheat Controller: Three temperature settings to match your brewing preference. The preheat controller provides consistent thermal management of your brew inputs and maintains your brew chamber preheated for multiple extractions
  • Professional Grade 58mm Portafilter: The portafilter features a beautiful wooden handle and will work with any standard 58mm portafilter basket, tamper, distribution tools and other 58mm accessories.
  • Enhanced Usability: The Flair 58 features a wide base for stability, an elongated lever for ease of pulling at higher pressures, a T-grip for lever comfort and control as well as advanced mechanical workflow for rapid-fire extractions
  • Elegant Finishes: The premium built Flair 58 comes with stainless steel components for a plastic-free brew path, die-cast aluminum frame to withstand years of extractions and deluxe wooden accents for a luxurious feel and look.

    Flair 58 FAQ

Is the Flair 58 a good espresso maker for beginners?

The Flair is a manual lever machine and requires some practice, so it might be better suited for those who are comfortable with a more involved brewing process. Once you're familiar with how to use it, it's capable of producing some very high quality shots.

What size portafilter does the Flair 58 use?

The Flair uses an industry-standard 58mm group head, which means all standard portafilters will fit.

Does the Flair 58 come with a tamper?

Yes, it includes a 16-20g basket and tamper.

How hard is it to pull a good shot of espresso with the Flair 58?

There is a learning curve, but many users find the process rewarding. The Flair has a pressure gauge to help you manage pressure and flow rate, and because it's a lever machine you're completely free to experiment with things like pre infusion and flow profiling. Lance Hedrick has a great video over here where he talks through his brew routine on the Flair and has some great tips when it comes to flow profiling and workflow for the Flair.

What kind of grinder do I need to use with the Flair 58?

    You'll need a high-quality, espresso-capable burr grinder.

How does the Flair 58 compare to other manual espresso makers?

It's known for its durability, use of a standard 58mm portafilter, and preheat option on the Plus model

      Lovely machine

Love the flair 58. It so far, has produced better shots than anything else I have tried. I originally got this because I knew with some learning and patience, it would be up there with multi thousand dollar machines.
My only gripe, is the tamper. its very small, and I have small hands. so. I would suggest a different tamp.
everything else feels well built, and quite sturdy!

As for coffeeaddicts, they were awesome too. I had this and a grinder delivered within a few days. Price was also, quite reasonable. Glad I purchased through here :)

      Very impressed!

I've been using it for a couple months and I'm impressed. I saw James Hoffman's review and was intrigued so I looked into this and other hand operated units. It's very well built, solid aluminum frame, nice stainless steel fasteners, lovely machining on the cylinder and piston. It looks like it should last for years and be easy to maintain. The power brick is a little ugly but it's easy to hide and works well.

It didn't take long to make some lovely espresso with this setup. Coming from the Bellman stovetop unit, I needed a much finer grind, as many other people have said. I'm doing the typical low pressure pre-infusion, then 9 bars and reducing the pressure near the end. The coffee it makes is very consistent and better than the expensive espresso from the cafe down the road. Cleanup is very quick and the use of a standard portafilter means it's easy to upgrade and customize.

This approach gives you complete control over the process for a great price. Highly recommended!
